Tea Kocijan

JuMBO PhD thesis supervisor: Dr. Serena Zacchigna ICGEB

Summary of career/studies

In June 2016 I obtained a Master degree in Biotechnology in Medicine at the University of Rijeka. During the Master studies I did a traineeship in the laboratory of Dr. Zacchigna studying cardiac remodeling, and this is when I acquired interest for the research field of cardiovascular biology. Later, during the final year I became interested in the field of proteomics, so I went on to do a Master thesis on the proteomics of Staphylococcus aureus biofilm at the University of Milan under the supervision of Dr. Paola Roncada. The project I am now working on applies proteomics for research in the cardiovascular biology field.

Why JuMBO PhD?

I chose the JuMBO PhD program because I wanted to start my scientific career in a motivating international environment that offers an excellent support for working on my project of interest.
