Ambra Cappelletto

JuMBO PhD thesis supervisor: Dr. Serena Zacchigna ICGEB

Summary of career/studies

I obtained my bachelor degree in Biology at the University of Trieste. Then, I obtained a double degree in Functional Genomics in Trieste and in Genetics at Paris Diderot University in Paris, where I prepared my master report about a new gene therapy strategy to cure SOD1-linked ALS working at the Centre de Recherche en Myologie (INSERM). Now, at ICGEB, I am firtsly interested in the discovery of new anti-cancer genes using an in vivo screening approach with the final aim of developing new therapeutics contrasting metastasis. In addition, I am involved in my group's project to clarify the mechanisms underlying cardiac angiogenesis.

Why JuMBO PhD?

The JUMBO PhD program provides a solid background in molecular biology and allows students to learn and be involved in several fields, in parallel with the activity of the laboratory. This aspect is essential for an open-minded and great career.
